Since our last newsletter, we have added over 45 titles to Docuseek2. Of special note: From Bullfrog Films, Anthropocene examines whether human impact has tipped the planet into a new geological epoch, with all of its political, social and behavioral implications; The Enemy Within is the story of Britain's longest strike, the 1984-85 miners' strike, when Margaret Thatcher declared war on the unions, as told by those who lived through it; and Love & Solidarity is an exploration of nonviolence and organizing through the life and teachings of Rev. James Lawson. From Icarus Films, in Beyond My Grandfather Allende, winner of Cannes Film Festival's Golden Eye Documentary Prize, director Marcia Tambutti Allende seeks to understand the man behind the legend that was her grandfather, Salvador Allende; in The Seasons in Quincy, artist, intellectual and storyteller John Berger is the subject of four essay films by Tilda Swinton and the Derek Jarman Lab; and Under the Sun is a fascinating portrait of one North Korean girl and her parents in the year as she prepares to join the Korean Children's Union on Kim Jong-Il's birthday. While the New Releases page lists a dozen or so new releases, search for new content via the Advanced Search page. New Films Added in June 25 new titles from Bullfrog Films and Icarus Films were added to the Docuseek2 Complete and Essential Collections in June. New Bullfrog titles include The True Cost, a groundbreaking investigation that reveals that while the price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically; Just Eat It, a funny, shocking and intriguing look at the issue of food waste; and The Antibiotic Hunters, which follows scientists as they urgently hunt for new antibiotics in some remote and unusual places. |

National Hispanic Heritage Month, a month to recognize and celebrate the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans starts on September 15. Enrich your campus programs with a video series featuring our Hispanic Heritage Month playlist. The playlist explores the Hispanic and Latino experience in the U.S., but we also have an extensive collection of films for Latin American studies covering a history and experiences that cannot really be separated from the Hispanic and Latino experience north of the Rio Grande. Here's a link to our Latin American Studies Collection. Did you miss Women's Equality Day? August 26 was Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the enfranchisement of women in the United States. Docuseek2 is proud to offer impressive collections of related films, including a 50-program Women’s Studies Collection and 16-program Women’s History Month Sampler. |
