New Bullfrog Films on Docuseek2 New Icarus Films on Docuseek2

New Releases!

Since September, over 250 new titles have been added to Docuseek2, including over 100 titles in our latest update this month. In addition to the MediaStorm titles added in the fall (see below), we are now up to almost 1000 titles available for streaming.

New titles from Bullfrog Films include East of Salinas, a heartrending and humanizing portrait of an undocumented child, his family, and his teacher, illuminating not only the struggles and hopes of undocumented immigrants, but also the problems of a nation whose policies divide families; Planetary, a breathtaking and beautiful cinematic journey exploring our cosmic origins and future as a species, featuring over 30 renowned experts, including anthropologists, astronauts, geographers, cosmologists, philosophers, indigenous and faith leaders; Stray Dog, by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Debra Granik, an intimate stereotype-shattering portrait of a Vietnam veteran, with subtle social commentary on the dynamics of class, race, and citizenship in twenty-first century rural America; and through dramatic first-hand accounts, expert testimony, and shocking statistics, Incarcerating US asks fundamental questions about the prison system in America and examines how the War on Drugs and mandatory minimums led to the largest prison population in the history of the world.

Subscribers to The Docuseek2 Complete Collection also get access to over 40 of Bullfrog's most popular titles from their catalog.

New titles from Icarus Films include Cinema Novo, awarded Best Documentary at Cannes Film Festival, an intricately edited documentary composed of film clips from the major works of the Brazilian 'Cinema Novo' movement and period interviews with its leading filmmakers; Mali Blues, a vibrant film that follows four dynamic musicians in Mali, the birthplace of the blues, who combine rich musical traditions with contemporary influences, using their music to stand up to extremism and inspire tolerance and peace; Althusser, an Intellectual Adventure, centered around the only filmed interview ever given by acclaimed French philosopher Louis Althusser, one of the most influential leftist thinkers of the 20th century, who remains an enigmatic figure: a man whose work rejuvenated Marxist theory and a victim of mental illness who, in his darkest moment, strangled his wife of more than 30 years, a few weeks after the interview was given; and In the Steps of Trisha Brown, which takes us behind-the-scenes with revolutionary modern-dance choreographer Trisha Brown in the weeks leading up to the first performance of her seminal work by Paris Opera Ballet.

Icarus Films has also added over 30 titles from the French distribution company Andana Films only available via streaming. Like all of our films, they are available exclusively on Docuseek2.

MediaStorm on Docuseek2

Newest distributor MediaStorm is an award-winning film production and interactive design studio whose work gives voice and meaning to the most pressing issues of our time. MediaStorm stories demystify complex issues, humanize statistics, and inspire audiences to take action on issues that matter.

New releases from MediaStorm include African Air, a compilation of ten years of photography by National Geographic contributor George Steinmetz, who, while flying a motorized paraglider over one of the most diverse continents in the world, captures the stunning beauty, potential, and hope of Africa's landscapes and people; A Darkness Visible, based on 14 trips to Afghanistan between 1994 and 2010, photojournalist Seamus Murphy chronicles a people caught time and again in political turmoil, struggling to find their way while their desire for self-determination is often overlooked; An Apollo Legend, a profile of Harlem's famed Apollo Theater, an amateur's battleground, where performers have competed for stardom since 1934 and today, and where the legends of Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown and Jimi Hendrix live on in the hearts of those who pray for their own big break; and The Last Move, about a man who has spent a lifetime amassing the world's largest video game collection, but now, with his mother sick and facing an enormous mortgage, must sell his collection.
