Hello!

Tom McCormack, Docuseek2 Community Coordinator

Hi — let me introduce myself. My name is Tom McCormack; I’m the new Docuseek2 Community Coordinator. I will be responsible for managing interactions between Docuseek2 and the media community, including sales and marketing, plus other outreach and communication involved in building successful partnerships in the world of educational media.

I am pleased to present you with the first Docuseek2 newsletter. Docuseek2 has evolved quite a bit since we unveiled the site at the National Media Market last October, and this newsletter reflects those changes. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about Docuseek2 or streaming media in general. I can be reached at 718-488-8900, or by email at tom@docuseek2.com.

Best,

Tom McCormack

The Architecture Collection

Docuseek2 Architecture Collection

Because Docuseek2 includes films from multiple distributors, we can curate unique collections and make them available for attractive prices to college and university departments and libraries. We released our first thematic collection, The Architecture Collection, in March. The Architecture Collection includes eighteen acclaimed documentaries that explore the diverse world of contemporary architecture and design. The works in this collection examine the range of the architectural experience, from aboriginal forms and mud construction to cutting edge contemporary forms and green design. Renowned architects including I.M. Pei, Bill McDonough, Rem Koolhaas and Santiago Calatrava discuss their principles and practices. The films discover architecture in its social and political contexts: an ambitious plan to create a new urban blueprint for Paris; the construction of giant mall outside of New York City; a reinterpretation of the sprawling capital of Nigeria; the challenges of creating ecologically sustainable communities. Together, the collection provides a rich historical and cross-cultural overview of design and construction — and an essential guide to the ideas guiding them in the 21st century. Interactive transcripts and Closed captions

Docuseek2 now has 31 titles with interactive transcripts, and 85 titles with closed captions. Interactive transcripts display a scrolling window next to the player. The transcript frame highlights text as it is spoken, and allows you to search the transcript for specific text and jump to that place in the video. Interactive transcripts also provide a way to create clips by selecting the portion of the transcript to include in the clip. "Interactive transcripts" and "Closed captioned" are advanced search options on Docuseek2. Interactive

300 Titles

It's official! Docuseek2 has reached the 300 titles mark — we have 300 of the best documentary and social issue video available for streaming to the higher education market. The DS2 collection includes 148 titles from Bullfrog Films, 143 titles from Icarus Films, and 11 titles from Terra Nova Films.

Help wanted

We want to improve the subject search capability of the Docuseek2 site by aligning our subject categories with current standards, and bringing the subject classification of the 300 titles in line with the updated list of subject categories. If you are interested in helping with this, please drop an email to info@docuseek2.com with a cost estimate and how long you think the project will take.
